Medal of Honor losing honor!?

Ask any long time gamer about Medal of Honor and they can tell you stories. Medal of Honor has been in gaming community for years since first appearing on the Playstation back in 1999.

What is Medal of Honor? Well for that don’t know about this long running series, Medal of Honor is a First Person Shooter that typically puts you in the middle of world war 2 or various other major conflicts over the years, mostly World War 2 though. The missions may vary from game to game but the idea is basically the same, kill you some enemies, get to and or complete your objective and maybe chuck a couple grenades here and there for effect.

Yes Medal of Honor has had its ups and downs but it has always been rather honorable, until now that is, or does it? The latest Medal of Honor game takes place in Afghanistan pitting you against an Al-Qaeda strong hold and the group itself.

There are a few problems with this scenario though. First there is no proof that there are Al-Qaeda bases in Afghanistan, plenty of Taliban but little or no evidence that has not been faked has been shown to the public to prove they were there. The game is already getting off to a bad start with that fact.

One could argue that doesn’t matter because the Taliban were tied to Al-Qaeda and thus they must have been there at some point. Yet there is one simple problem with that argument, all the proof that ties them together, bogus and disproven.

You read correctly, in an article for Global Research.ca Professor David Ray Griffen spells out and outlines how the not only the war in Afghanistan but also the war in Iraq are both Illegal and warrantless. Not only does he do that but he goes on to debunk the false proof the government put forward for Al-Qaeda being there and being involved in 9/11. [1]

Then there is one final nail to this coffin of that is the plot for the game, Al-Qaeda doesn’t exist as we are told it does. Al-Qaeda was created by the CIA back in the 80s [2] to act out the role of a global terrorist network and to combat the Soviets. A history is provided in reference source [2] for those who are interested as this article will not go in-depth into the subject.

Then there is the matter of having segments of Al-Qaeda exposed for a front network or linked to certain individuals as was the case with two of America’s head Al-Qaeda members. [3] The supposed story of Al-Qaeda falls apart when it is looked at under closer inspection.

Okay so the story is inappropriate but what is the point? Basically there are two potential explanations for the plot of the next Medal of Honor game which is getting more attention that some of its previous titles have.

The first is relatively harmless and is that the plot is just a creative direction. This is indeed possible and very likely could be the reason behind the games plot and if it is the case than there is no cause for alarm.

The second is a bit more sinister and is meant to condition us toward the untruth that there is an Al-Qaeda and it is in Afghanistan. This is called two different things, Indoctrination [4] and Predictive Programming which is a conspiracy term for a type of Indoctrination.

While sounding almost ludicrous or simply stupid the argument does have merits. Anyone in the conspiracy community can attest to this but how does this work exactly. Simply put as a human we base our decisions off what we know and if you control that process you control the person. By simply putting this plot in a video game which will reach millions of people it reinforces the belief Al-Qaeda is in Afghanistan.

Though what if it is the latter of the two? Does that mean you can’t or shouldn’t get the game? No, simply by knowing the truth or realizing that this is going on or just choosing to use the game as a form of entertainment will protect you from the indoctrinating effects. It is only through unquestioning and blind ignorance that these methods work and when you begin to question or simply ignore the message they are sending it fails to work.

Whatever the reason behind the plot in the upcoming game Medal of Honor the game is sure to make a splash in the gaming community as long time fans await the next coming of their long running franchise and newer gamers prepare to become affiliated with it. How the game will turn out only time will tell.

Writers Note: Medal of Honor is rated M for mature and is not a game for children, please use your discretion as a parent when purchasing video games for your children. Thank you.

Update

Before this article was a speculative piece on the why the story was going to be the way it was. That was until the latest trailers started airing every other commercial on TV as of late. (Earlier October 2010) With the new evidence of how the game was made being revealed in the trailer the conclusion that the game is propaganda becomes more and more likely.

The Trailer viewable above starts out how any video game trailer along these lines begins, opening with you in some combat zone specific to the games story and then engaging in combat. This is all pretty normal with nothing out of the ordinary until the end of the trailer where it says “Developed in Collaboration with US Special Forces.”

Thanks to Wiki Leaks we now have a picture of what the Special Forces have been doing in the Middle East and those actions range from highly questionable to flat out illegal. A unit called Task Force 373 has been responsible for the death of children, Iraqi police, civilians and countless others.

Now are these the particular group that the game was made in Collaboration with? That is unlikely but the tie to them becomes apparent when you look at the plot of the game.

When the plot of the game is considered the resemblance between it and Task Force 373 becomes undeniable. You play as a Tier 1 Special Forces operative (basically a Task Force 373 group). Tasked with taking on missions that no one else can handle (glorification) or so the promo says. In short this is the exact kind of stuff that Task Force 373 does and since the game was developed in collaboration with US Special forces that actually makes since that it would look as such.

Considering how much a push this game is receiving and the nature of the plot it really makes you think about what nature the plot originated from and what purpose it serves. Thanks for reading.
